My washer is working! Thanks for helping fix it, Mister Man!
For several years I've wanted to visit The Maldives. From the pictures I've seen, it seems like the most breathtaking islands in the world. I found this resort online on a list of top 10 hotels to stay in before you die. Too bad it's $1,261 per person, per night. If you're interested, you can also call them to get pricing for "exclusive use of the island."
I guess I won't be laying my head down on their pillows at night.
For some reason, all my washer does is agitate. It won't drain. So now I have a washing machine full of water, and two weeks of back laundry piled up that I can't tend to. I'm not very happy right now.
Today is my nephew's 8th birthday. He's into skating boarding these days.

I just read the news that Paul Newman died yesterday. It didn't come as a terrible surprise, since it was known that he was battling cancer. I was sad to see the headline, nevertheless.
I often buy his products, especially Newman-O's, because of the proceeds going to charity.
I found this picture of him with his wife Joanne Woodward...One of the rare lasting Hollywood marriages. Man, he was seriously hot back in the day. An interviewer once asked him if he was tempted to stray from his wife and he responded, "I have steak at home. Why go out for hamburger?" You go, boy!

As you may recall, I had a situation come up where my new cat, Milo, peed on my bed. Not once, but twice. I was fixin' to give him back when I thought I should take him to the vet to rule out any urinary tract or kidney infections as the root cause. It turns out that Milo's urine is normal, but the vet told me that in more than 50% of cases anti-anxiety medication remediates this problem. So now Milo is on Buspirone, which is an anti-anxiety drug, and is also prescribed as an anti-depressant. Interestingly enough, Bristol-Myers Squibb was the first pharmaceutical company to gain FDA approval for Buspirone. My mom worked for a division of B.M.S. for years.
For now I'm keeping Milo in the bathroom, and in two weeks I will attempt to reintroduce him back into the house again. Let's hope it's effective!
My entire apartment has the fabulous aroma of chili. I made my usual chili recipe, but spicier. I added a bit more habanero sauce, and diced up some jalapenos and threw those in. I can't wait to have it for dinner! I made chicken quesadillas for lunch, so I won't be hungry enough to have the chili until dinner time.
It has been a nice relaxing weekend so far. I went grocery shopping, and spent a lot of time at home, which I love. I'm going to make a chocolate pie when the chili is done, and then I need to do some laundry. I also need to work today, because I didn't get everything done that I needed to last week.
Lots of good stuff is happening these days, and most recently I found out that I was selected to be a career coach at work. I'm going to go through a bunch of training for that, and I'm really very excited about it.
I went for a massage on Friday morning with my friend Caroline. That was quite nice. I love getting massages.
Well, Tristan needs help with his homework, so I'm going to cut it short.
Peace.
And the things I want to blog about are backing up in my head!
I treated myself to a new phone today; a Samsung Instinct. It's got a GPS navigation system, you can watch TV and listen to the radio on it, and it's got a media player so I can listen to my tunes and watch videos and stuff, and it has a nice built in camera and video recorder. It's a touchscreen phone so no more buttons to push. It took some getting used to at first, but I'm loving it now. It's so easy to browse the internet and read/send emails on the screen because it has a nice display. Best of all I got it dirt cheap.
I'll write more tomorrow. I'm having too much fun playing with this phone.
Massage.
Milo Update.
Isabella Sanchez.
However, I'm mentally exhausted this week. It will have to wait until tomorrow for me to do the post justice. Particularly about Isabella. Stay tuned...
I think my new cat, Milo, has a urinary tract infection. I've mentioned the fact that he urinated on my bed right in front of me to two people today that both said, "Get him to a vet. It sounds like he has a urinary tract infection."
W have an appointment tomorrow at 8:20AM.
That someone always has to die before people do anything about people text messaging while driving. In my opinion, it's way more dangerous than talking on the phone and driving. At least your eyes are on the road when talking.
The biggest problem is lack of enforcement. I know in my state talking on the phone is now illegal, but *everyone* is on the phone around here while driving. No one takes the law seriously. This video is about a mother that's fighting back against texting while driving, after her 17-year-old daughter was killed by a distracted driver. I also read that the engineer driving that commuter train in L.A. was possibly texting. The video below says that two thirds of 18-24 year olds admit they text while they're driving. I don't know about you, but that makes me pretty darn uncomfortable to be sharing the road with these people. I have no desire to die because some chicky can't wait to tell her b.f. "u r so hott".
I mentioned in a previous blog about the proposal that I wrote to the president of the company I work for about being more deliberate in our culture about holding employees accountable for the way we communicate in the organization. Namely, that we proactively strive to extinguish gossip, back-biting, negativity, and inappropriate conversations (CAP = Constructive, Appropriate, Positive).
Today is the day that this culture initiative is rolling out to the organization! Balloons, t-shirts and buttons have been made up, and I've taken a picture of the t-shirt so y'all can see the marketing associated with this idea. I'm very excited.

I stubbed my toe so hard tonight that I tore half my toe nail off of my middle toe of my right foot.
I think I ate too much junk today. I have a very upset stomach and I'm feeling sick. I took the kids to see Indiana Jones 4 today, and we had popcorn and candy, and then tonight I had chocolate pudding and an oreo cookie, and I'm just feeling really lousy. Tristan threw up this evening, too, so I think it's what we ate today.
I watched Pride & Prejudice tonight for the gazillionth time. How I adore that movie. It's such a tremendous pity that a love like Darcy and Elizabeth's only existed in the mind and masterful pen of Jane Austen. Admittedly, despite being a sensible woman, even I am swept away by the doggedly fierce and loyal love that Darcy has for Elizabeth Bennett. In the movie Elizabeth declares, "Only the deepest love will persuade me into matrimony, which is why I shall end up an old maid." I love that line.
